A Lousy Labor Day Weekend Ahead

Tomorrow I have to get up before it's light so I can be at traffic school by 7:45 half an hour away. I will probably sleep through it, since I normally rise at nine after working until one or two the night before. Obviously, I will miss my best hours tonight trying to sleep so I can rise earlier tomorrow. I probably won't be able to, but I have to try.

I got my traffic ticket, the first one in over 48 years of driving, on May 15, and I have to get this last part of my punishment over with. My husband is coming, too. He got the last of his many tickets a couple of weeks ago. Were it not for him, I'd probably do the whole thing online. At least the test is open book. Perhaps I'll read the book tonight to help me get sleepy. That way I'll quickly be able to flip to the information I need.

So, as far as writing goes, most of tonight and all of tomorrow are shot. That means I'll lose momentum on the web work I'm just getting up to speed on. I have six pages of my new website done. I spent hours yesterday making the appropriate changes to a lens on My Ten Favorite and Most Used Cookbooks to adapt it to a page on my bookselling site. Since most of the books are out of print, I am using affiliate links on that page, and I had to plug my own account number into all the links. I removed one book and added some Zazzle products. It doesn't look as good as a Squidoo lens, but it will do the job. I think I'd rather find a way to tie the other recipes I want to post into some other format. Maybe this one. They really don't need affiliate links. These recipes are too short and sweet to go onto HubPages. But they are easy and evergreen.

I'll miss all of you tomorrow. I'll probably be too tired to get much work done when I come home, but I may be able to read your work. I may not be able to comment on all of it. Sometimes I read something and my mind just doesn't find anything to write in response. So forgive me if I just read. Unless it was all about sports, I probably read it and you just won't know it.

The photo is a screen shot of the top of my new website. You can right click and open in a new tab if you want to take a closer look at what I've been up to. The theme is "Tidy" and I'm still learning how to make it meet my expectations.

Note to & elitecodex : I use Chrome, and sometimes I can't choose any category from the drop down menu below Relationships because it keeps jumping back up to that as the bottom before I can click something below it. This was intended for Writing, but I couldn't click that far down.

Weekend woes of a scofflaw. ^title

That's very creative. I'm too tired to be creative with titles today. I'm about to fall asleep, so I'd better go cook.

Cranky. emoticon

I have found a problem with categories too. Someone suggested a solution, think it was scorpie but not sure. Click on "Humor" and apply that, then click again and you should now be able to reach the bottom of the list.

That punishment seems reasonable. Indians need that too - all of them (lol). And about categories on Persona I too have that experience. What I do is I go right down to 'p' and place that under the category and then once again work on it. I get it that way.Just try.

Yes this problem came up before and I do exactly the same and it seems to work well...

:( Traffic school? What joy. That is no way to have to spend a Saturday.

You mean 7:45 comes twice a day?

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on August 29, 2014, 10:35 PM

I've never had a problem on Internet Explorer with categories, other than remembering to chose one. (Guiness the Cat doesn't understand why I have to concentrate on choosing one. He says he has no issue with it).

I still can't open posts to edit on IE, and the right-click-to-view-larger isn't presented as an option when I've tried it on photos.

What's the best browser to use for Persona Paper?

Barbrad by this time tomorrow you will be done with the traffic class.... I do agree with you I prefer taking those courses online. I got my last ticket about 10 months ago, the first in 10 years... Good luck tomorrow.

BarbRad wrote on August 30, 2014, 12:13 AM

I'll have to try that. But it would still be nice if it would be fixed.

BarbRad wrote on August 30, 2014, 12:15 AM

Unfortunately, yes. So does 6:00, when I have to get up tomorrow. i'm about to get ready to go to bed. on top of that, we may have to go to Santa Barbara again Sunday to sign some papers.

BarbRad wrote on August 30, 2014, 12:16 AM

I use Chrome wherever I can. I use Google docs a lot.

BarbRad wrote on August 30, 2014, 12:17 AM

Thanks. At least the test is open book.

JanetJenson wrote on August 30, 2014, 1:09 AM

barbrad If one of you has to go and the other is left behind, I know from experience that every bit of planning that was done ahead of time will be appreciated by the surviving one who will have enough shock and confusion to face without having to deal with things that could have been settled before.

LynnWrites wrote on August 30, 2014, 1:09 AM

Sounds like you've been busy...I hope it all went well for you today.

JanetJenson wrote on August 30, 2014, 1:17 AM

My computer bit the dust in the middle of that one barbrad but before it rebooted, it put my comment to your other post here where it doesn't below. Oh, well. You are still the last person I ever would have expected to have to go to traffic school.

nbaquero wrote on August 30, 2014, 7:00 AM

OK, so can you please memorize the questions (and the answers), I might need them in the future emoticon :winking:

thecoffeefox wrote on August 30, 2014, 7:34 AM

I hope everything goes smoothly and quickly, just not too quickly on the way there or home though.
