Gathering Solar Energy with Clear Solar Panels

Every time I get my power bill, I cringe. Our power rates keep going up, and we do our best to conserve and use it wisely. I've always been interested in research in solar energy in hopes that someday an economical source of power can be found. Today I read an article on research findings by the Michigan State University, that sound promising.

It seems they have developed a transparent solar panel that can be placed over windows allowing you to still see through them. These clear panels can also be used on cell phones, Ipads , e-readers, and more. The goal is to create solar panels that you don't even know are there. While the research is still in the early stages, it has the potential to be economical and affordable in the long term. I hope that as technology advances we can find an alternative energy source that is sustainable, easy on the environment and pocketbook.

That does indeed sound highly promising and is just the sort of thing that makes a living in this century truly exciting.

That would be an improvement over the solar solutions that are currently available.

I'd love to be able to use more solar power.

I think we'll see a lot of things in this century and It is exciting.!

Yes, BarbRad , it would be nice to see a solar solution that works that everyone can take advantage of.

Me too, OldRoadsOnceTraveled .!

That's interesting. Solar panels really need to face the sun most of the day, so it will be useful to see if they have improved efficiency too.

Thanks for this, I love to hear about renewable energy breakthroughs.

LynnWrites Now that is my kind of technology. If that becomes widespread, that would be the way most people would go to save energy. Besides, energy, real energy is actually free. It is called either free energy or zero point energy. Tesla created it many many years ago. Well, he found that it does exist. We should not have to pay our lungs out to the electric company. If I new how to build my own Zero point energy machine I would.

LynnWrites wrote on August 24, 2014, 2:18 PM

I think that is there goal, MegL . It will be interesting to watch their progress.

LynnWrites wrote on August 24, 2014, 2:22 PM

Ive read about that, inertia4 . Our power rates are extremely high here, too. And zero point energy is a start to the solution. I'd certainly use a Zero point energy machine if one was available and affordable.

Oh, that would be fantastic! I have always wanted solar panels, but the expense of installing them has always been a stumbling block.

Solar is little bit capital intensive but great fine indeed. There are motor vehicles in Japan and Singapore running on solar power( in India too we have Reva Car a two seater and 4 seater ones)

LynnWrites I think everyone would use a Zero Point energy machine. We should have that now. She should have had that for many years. These big corporations are raping us financially.
