Falling in love on social networking sites and getting married

Since the internet came into being, social networking sites and dating sites have become hugely popular globally. Many individuals fall in love on social networking sites. Initially it starts as friendship, and slowly it blossoms into a beautiful relationship that leads to marriage. In many instances, two individuals that are strangers to each other meet online and fall in love. Few decades ago a fairytale romance was subject to movies, now however, it happens in real-time situations, thanks to social networks and dating sites.

Do online relationships last more often or fail more often? Well, this question will have varied opinions and the debate will never end. However, like all love stories, we do not plan our moves to fall in love, it just happens and we tend to go with the flow. Two of my friends got married recently, and both these guys found their respective partners on social networking sites. However, it is important that you get to know the person you meet on social networks rather well before you take wedding vows.

Globally, there have been several instances where two individuals that have barely known each other on social networking sites take the hasty decision of getting married and later realize it wasn’t meant to be. When you fall in love with a person on social networking site or dating site, let sense prevail. If you fall in love, do not be blinded by how you feel, instead take it a step at a time with caution before you say yes to marriage. You’ve got to realize two lives are at stake…when bells ring.

I know of a couple who met online and fell in love and married. This was about 6 or 7 years ago and they are still going strong. I can tell they were meant for each other. Their story is sweet.

I met my husband on a dating website in 2001. I met him there and got to know him enough to decide to meet him. But the first day we met in person is the first day we met. All the actual getting to know each other was done in person.

I've known two people who met their husbands on dating websites. One has been married for ten years now, and the other has been married for eight years. I have another friend who just got engaged last month to someone she met online. I think it can work. It's still subject to all the same stumbling blocks that exist in the non-virtual world, though.

I could meet someone but I don't know about marriage. Too risky.

I have heard about people meeting online and resulting to true love. I guess it could happen but in my opinion, the chances would be slim.

I would be far too "old-school" for this kind of thing! :)

I know a couple of friends who found their significant others through dating sites and social networking sites. I've never used dating sites myself but I have gone out with women that I've met online. Not my cup of tea though.
