Songwriting Struggles
I just noticed something: As a songwriter, there are seriously some struggles.
And I think that's the case with almost everything, the whole having its' downsides thing.
For me, songwriting is just all over the place.
First of all, finding a topic to write about is so difficult. You have to consider the fact that the topic has to run throughout the song. You have to make sure you'll have enough to write about the topic.
Then, the chorus is just there. The chorus is usually what makes the song what it is. So you want it to be catchy. You want it to be amazing. And that's where it gets wonderful . You just sit there thinking about a song with a really good chorus like "How did they come up with a chorus so catchy and amazing?"
Last but certainly not least, there's the song in general . You have to take time to write the song or else, the lyrics will reflect the rushed manner (sometimes).
I wrote a song about 2 days ago, and it was horrible. I wrote it in like 25 minutes. I was so proud of myself for actually finishing a song! Guess what?
I read it and I was just like "Whoa, what did I just write?"
Ah, the perks of songwriting..

Hmm I never tried to write any songs. My topic would probably be about food. Owner of a lonely fork, much better than the owner of a broken stove... Perhaps not.

I went to see The Baseball Project earlier this week, and your article about the pitfalls of writing a song makes what they do so much more amazing: all their songs are historically accurate songs about baseball players or baseball teams.
