A Bird Perched on a Tree
Sing once again O bird!
Sing the melodious song you once played.
‘Tis the sweetest thing everyone heard before.
Your song told the truth.
Profound truths that I so long evaded.
It touched the core of my being.
I chased the demons in me
You were the light
Inside the tunnel in my darkest being.
Your singular silence is deafening.
Have you lost your voice?
Or have you lost the will to sing?
You are who you are
You’ll grow courage in the dark
Let the light you impart be your guide now that you’re in need.
Take shelter from the rough winds
Protect your talons from decay
Stay sturdy throughout the ages.
Sing again, O bird!
